I have been using Airtel Broadband service from last 4 years. In September Jan 2011 I moved to Noda, I opted again for Airtel . At the time of purchase I was offered the following billing plan:
Rental Rs 699/month
Speed: 1 Mbps upto 10 GB, thereafter 512 Kbps
Free Talk time: 100 Min/month local
Setup Fee: Rs 1500 (One time) I was told that it’ll be waived off and will be adjusted in forthcoming bills (Rs 200 per month)
Cost of Telephone instrument Rs 1400, (And in lieu of it, I’ll get additional 200 min/month local).
But when I received my bill, I noticed that it was not in compliance with my plan. I was charged Rs 999 + Some call charges (Which I had made to Airtel Customer Care).
After contacting CC, I was told that the plan which I had opted for, has been dropped, and they have migrated my subscription to a new plan (Rs. 999PM, 2Mbps up to 10GB, afterwards 256Kbps).
In addition to this, I didn’t receive the Rs. 200 discount. For this issue I was told that it was due to some server issue and will be resolved. Though it never happened. And moreover, the free talk-time promised to me, was only for LOCAL AIRTEL numbers. (The representative had given me the wrong info). I was continuing the plan hoping that the billing issue will be resolved.
It worked fine until Sep 2011. On Sep 9th 2011, I raised a complaint as it was not working. After the second week of it, the issue was still unresolved, someone from Airtel called me and stated that it was due to a server migration issue and within 2 days it’ll be fixed, but it didn’t. On 24th of Sep I called the CC and they told me that the call has been closed. On the same day I called them again, raised a new ticket, and due to the frustration, I requested them either fix it within 2 days or disconnect it. They promised me that next morning someone will visit my place and fix it, but no one came. On 26th Sep I was told that it is going to take 2-3 more days. On Oct 9th, after contacting CC they told me that I had registered a “disconnection request on 2nd Oct” and the connection has been discontinued, and if I want to retain it, I have raise a new request.Though I had not asked them for this disconnection, I asked them to continue with it. As in my locality no other provider was there. Next day I was told that all the problems have been fixed, but my connection has been barred due to non-payment of bills. I paid the (undue) outstanding amount. I call it undue as my I was not using the service since last 1.5 months but the bill was generated. However, I was promised that they will take care of it. Having paid the amount the connection was still not working. At this point of time I had realized that my Airtel is never going to work and opted for a Wi-Fi plan from some other provider.
I was hoping that after doing all the settlements Airtel will have to pay me back the amount which I have paid in advance. But last week I received a bill from Airtel (period 11 Oct to 11 Nov) and it says that I still have to pay Rs 1257.
And now I am speechless. You discontinues my plan without any prior notice, keep me in dark for more that 2 months, charge me for this entire period. And now, instead of paying me the compensation along with the amount overcharged by you, you are asking me to pay the bill??
