My car broke down at film city flyover( very close to sec 18 market Noida, ) around 2 am (midnight) on 16-04-2010 while returning to home, I was not getting help at the that time of night I was also concerned about my family’s safety, I locked the car and somehow I reached home.
Early morning when I reached there my car was not there. I inquired all the nearby Police stations and the lodged the FIR for the same. On 22-04-2010 one of my team member received a call from a police man from greater noida that the one car is lying idle on noida expressway , when I reached there I found the car to be mine which was damaged from front with lots of accessories ( car stereo, battery etc ) were missing. I got all the formalities completed from police department and got my car released and also got the theft claim MOT01530103 lodged with ICICI Lombard canceled as instructed by Ms Ritu Verma.
As per her instructions I lodged a fresh claim MOT01536809 for damages (not for accessories stolen). They harassed me for three days for completing all the documents and when i somehow arranged all the documents they rejected my claim mentioning the following clause -” In event of any breakdown or accident, the vehicle insured shall not be left unattended without proper precautions being taken to prevent further damage or loss….any extension of the damage or any further damage to the vehicle shall be entirely at the insured’s own risk”.
At the time of taking the policy I was not told about any such clause and I have not received the policy documents till date, they have only provided the policy receipt. I just want to ask the Company that maximum vehicles in Delhi NCR are parked outside their houses(as there is no parking space inside the house) and are almost left unattended then this company can reject all such claims giving the same excuse. I want to request the forum to help me and highlight this case so that consumers should become more cautious before get cheated like me.
