My complaint is against indiatimes online shopping service (http:/Shopping.Indiatimes.Com), who assure 100% money back upon non-delivery of goods in promised time.
I had purchased a gift item online from the above site on 7th may 2011 at 10 pm that was to be delivered to my mother on mother’s day on 8th may 2011 in bangalore.
The details of my transaction is as follows:
order number : 112984822
total suborder : 1
order date : may 7, 2011
order time : 10:01 pm
current status : verified
order instructions : please deliver the gift item on 8th may
2011 in the morning or atleast before midnoon
total order amount (inr) : rs 488
total payable : rs 488
payment recieved : may 7, 2011
payment verified : may 8, 2011
sub order number : 3816744
merchant name and number : gifts valley(102821)
item number / Product number : 2699771
item sku no : mfd193
item title : 6 red rose bunch + 1/2 kg black forest cake the consumable gift item was supposed to be delivered in 1 working day , ie, on 8th may (sunday) before 9 pm (the vendor has mentioned in the item description that they deliver it even on sundays). This was confirmed to me by the customer care service official mr suneet at indiatimes shopping ( phone: 09876848888) who assured me that the gift item would get delivered definitely by 9 pm on 8th may as the delivery service was functioning fully on 8th may taking mother’s day into consideration.
I was also given the contact no of the vendor/Merchant for the gift item ie, mr deepak (phone no 09820517101) to enquire about the delivery of the gift item but none of the calls to this contact no. Was answered.
Despite the payment & confirmation of the purchase and repeated assurances by the customer care, the gift item remained undelivered even after 40 hrs of its purchase ie, 2 pm on 9th may.
Disheartened at the nondelivery of my gift to my mother in the intended time, I placed a complaint for cancellation of the product order, with the customer care official at the indiatimes shopping ie, ms astha on 9th may, at 2.15 pm ( complaint no. 811868). I was informed by the above official that the cancellation was in process thereafter and that my entire purchase amount ie, rs 488 will be refunded in my account within a week from the day of lodging the cancellation complaint. I reconfirmed this with the indiatimes shopping customer care again at 6.40 pm on 9th may.
Despite my lodging the cancellation complaint, I was informed that the gift item had been forcibly dumped by the courier service of indiatimes shopping at 7.30 pm on 9th may at the bangalore residence of my mother in spite of her refusal to accept it due to its delayed delivery.
On being recontacted the indiatimes shopping customer care officers refused to take any action regarding this.
This is a modus operandi of such services like indiatimes shopping who initially promise to deliver goods within a fixed time but then refuse to accept the responsibility of their delayed delivery causing mental agony to the customer.
In my case, I had tried sending the cake and the bunch of flowers to my mother as a token of my affection and respect for her and had high hopes of giving her those moments of happiness had it reached her in time on mother’s day.
But, the indiatimes shopping service due to its lacklustre performance, not only delayed the delivery of a consumable item like cake (thus, risking it getting spoilt due to the delay), but forcibly dumped the goods at the receiver’s doorstep nearly 5 hours after cancellation of the order, to avoid refunding the money demanded back by the customer ie, me upon order cancellation.
I am thoroughly disappointed and harassed as a result of my transaction with the above service and even angry that they decided to go ahead and deliver the goods so late despite my cancellation complaint ,and simply shook the responsibility of refunding me, off their shoulders.
Such online transactions enable the service providers to go scot free since there is no direct face to face interaction between them and the customer. In the end, it is the customer who is taken for a ride and is left feeling disappointed yet helpless as the payment is already made in advance and the delivery service is at mercy of the service provider.
I request for my complaint to be considered and my purchase amount for the goods Rs 488 INR be refunded as it is necessary that such action be taken against such service providers which will not only force them to improve and regulate their performance but also take responsibility for their delayed or bad service.I have full faith in the judiciary and believe that there are means to support the consumer and punish the vendors who victimize the consumers by their cunning maneuvers.
