I applied for MNP to port out my number 9796484732 from Vodafone to Airtel on January 22, 2011 at Jammu (India). The UPC number provided to me was:
VJ111281
Now, its been almost 2 months now and I am still stuck with Vodafone.
Initially my request was cancelled as I had an un-paid balance of Rs 0.02 ! . Later I was told by staff at Airtel Shop at Bahu plaza Jammu (Mr. Anush of Trikuta Communication) that there will be another attempt made by them. But I haven’t heard anything from anyone since then. I called Mr. Anush (9906009343) today and he seemed clueless and all he could tell was that my MNP is showing as “overdue”. He did not pick my subsequent calls!
I also sent an email to Nodal officer of Airtel at nodalofficer.jk@airtel.in on 23/02/2011 to check what they were doing to get my MNP request approved but received no reply. In contrast the vodafone management/nodal officers are atleast easily contactable and I have been in contact with Mr. Imran (9796219034) of Vodafone and he has ensured that there is no problem at their end and that they are not stopping my application. It was Mr. Imran only who provided me with reasons why my MNP request was rejected on first attempt. He has further confirmed that they did not receive any further request by Airtel for porting out my number till date (14/March/2011).
Vodafone People are actually waiting for airtel to send request to MCH (mobile clearing house) so that they can confirm that there are no pending dues and port out the number to Airtel !
Now, I don’t Know what the Airtel’s prospective is about this issue because
1. Airtel Support including Nodal officers are NON RESPONSIVE. I have no idea what they are doing and I seriously believe that they are not doing anything!
2. Vodafone Support Claims that only one request was cancelled and there were no further attempts made by Airtel. If I was to believe what Vodafone people are telling then its obvious that Airtel Team at Jammu is incompetent and action must be taken against incompetent staff.
Airtel has my 500 Rupees (for SIM purchase, advance rental, Security), Rs 50 for DD charges and Rs 36 for MNP charges. So its Airtel’s job to get my number ported to them. It was shocking to know that Airtel never made a 2nd attempt at MCH using my correct UPC etc. If they can’t they must refund all of my money.
Now, TRAI must also look into this matter and penalize the party that is at fault here. Be it Vodafone or Airtel.
